Ficinia, (Isolepis), a versatile and hardy sedge grass
Ficinia Nodosa
A versatile and hardy sedge grass, Knobby Club Rush is an upright to gently weeping sedge with evergreen deep green cylindrical foliage. It is ideal for coastal gardening as it can take total coastal exposure. Although it is native to the coast, Knobby Club Rush also grows well in inland gardens.
Ficinia nodosa was formally known as Isolepis nodosa and is commonly called 'Knobby Club Rush' - after its knobby looking seed head. It makes a great contrast plant for other foliage grasses. Although native to the coastal zone, it grows well in protected inland climates and it can cope with light frost. It may yellow a little in cold inland winters but will green up again in spring.
