Photinia x Fraseri 'Red Robin'
Photinia `Red Robin' is a fast-growing hedging plant. It has deep green leaves most of the year except for the new growth which is a vibrant red. Photinia is used to create a hedge in a hurry, mature plants can grow 1 metre per year and a newly planted hedge will grow to 1.5 metres within 2 years.
Photinia x fraseri ‘Red Robin’ is a tough plant that will grow from the coast to inland and handles heavy frost and heat with no issues. It is for these reasons it is popular as a hedge, once established it is pretty much bullet proof. Photinia flower in spring with large sprays of small creamy white flowers that have a strong perfume. The vibrant red of the new foliage is a real feature.

Left to grow unclipped they can grow up to 6 metres X 2 plus metres. When trained as a hedge they can be kept down to a managable height of a couple of metres tall X 1 metre wide. |
