A mid-sized Lomandra with weeping foliage and masses of flowers
Lomandra Hystrix ‘LHWP’
A mid-sized Lomandra with weeping foliage and masses of flowers, Tropic Cascade™ Lomandra has deep green weeping foliage and large fragrant yellow flowers that put on a real show in spring to early summer. The compact growth habit makes Tropic Cascade ideal for smaller gardens, and it is suited to both wet and dry garden conditions in full sun to part shade.
Tropic Cascade™ is a lower growing compact cultivar of the popular Slender Mat Rush or Lomandra Hystrix. The weeping foliage is the essential distinctive quality of this grass as it adds a softness to the garden. It has masses of fragrant yellow flowers in spring to early summer that is held high amongst the foliage, and they make a great display when in full bloom. The flowers of Tropic Cascade are male, which means that the flowers will be uniform and produce no seeds; (Lomandra are dioecious, meaning that male and female flowers grow on different plants). Tropic Cascade is an ideal understory or foliage plant for tropical gardens and works well either planted on mass or randomly through the garden as individual specimen plants. As with the standard Slender Mat Rush, Tropic Cascade can be grown in Rain Gardens to absorb nutrients.
