Star Jasmine - An ideal ground-cover with perfumed white star-shaped flowers
Trachelospermum Jasminoides
An ideal ground-cover with perfumed white star-shaped flowers. Star Jasmine is an evergreen climbing or sprawling plant with glossy deep green leaves and masses of perfumed white star-shaped flowers from late spring through to autumn. Star Jasmine is a versatile plant that can be grown as a climber on a fence or pergola. It also makes a great groundcover plant where it forms a dense low carpet of foliage.
Trachelospermum Jasminoides gets its common name, Star Jasmine, from its star-shaped flowers with a heavy sweet perfume. They prefer a warm aspect in full sun to part shade with rich, well-drained soil. Once established, they are very drought tolerant. Star Jasmine can be trained to cover fences and other garden structures, but one of the main uses is a ground cover.
